First Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
a historic church alive in Fort Davis, Texas
Sunday School
Our Bible-based Childrens' Education Program is patterned on a Presbyterian Rotational Model of learning.  Each lesson is presented in four or more ways, facilitating the various learning styles of kids.  Teachers and locations throughout the church vary week-to-week, making each lesson a unique and exciting experience for each child.

Each lesson includes one Sunday inside the tented Storytelling Room, the center of our program. This is where the kids hear each Bible story.

Supplementing the experience of hearing stories from the Bible. kids spend other Sundays in each rotation session singing in the Music Room, playing games based on themes from the story, cooking in the Grandmother Bloys Kitchen.

Arts and Crafts, Puppetry, Music, Cooking Your Way Thru the Bible, Game-Playing, Theatre, and other means of hands-on learning are employed in this dynamic program. Rotating teachers (who volunteer based on their own talents and interests) gives the children a chance to get to know adult  church members, and vice versa.

The Storytelling Room puts kids into a setting like Old Jerusalem

There is no starting or ending date. Your child is welcome to drop in to try a class or to attend regularly. Friends and guests are also welcome.

Currently our program provides classes for kindergarteners through fourth graders. We'll happily add classes to accomodate older age groups on request. Your child is important to us-- we don't feel the need to have half a dozen kids to start a new class. A couple of regulars is all we ask to begin a new age group.

Contact  Matt Miles for more information.  Or just show up any Sunday a little before 10 am. If you can't find that week's class, duck into the basement --the adult class meets in our basement Garden Parlor. We'll lead you to the kids, then you can pour a cup of coffee and sit in on our discussion.
